Thanksgiving – Guest Favours

Another enjoyable, imaginative touch that is sure to delight your company is guest favours. These shouldn’t be elaborate or expensive; they serve as a token of gratitude to your guests for taking the time from their lives and schedules to help you celebrate this special occasion. It’s enough to provide a small token, conveying your personal style and marking the event being celebrated. I generally place these at each place setting; on occasion, I have handed them to the guests as they leave.

As Thanksgiving is traditionally a time of harvest and plenty, I take this theme into consideration when planning my guest favour. In the past, I have baked pies, pumpkin bread, and cookies, placed them in a treat box or cello bag tied with a tag and festive ribbon wishing each recipient a “Happy Thanksgiving.” An alternative could be a chocolate turkey or pumpkin at each place setting, a welcome treat for the car ride home. There are so many possibilities! This year as a table favour, each place setting will have a pumpkin spice scented candle, and as our guests leave the festivities, each family will be given a pumpkin shaped spice cake with a Thanksgiving Prayer attached. Again, all referring back to the theme of the season of abundance and harvest.
